What if we could save 12 billion lives and $12.5 trillion by 2050?
Our new report, "Breaking the Cascade of Climate Risks," details how we can do just that. We're excited to have launched it last night at New York Climate Week.
The Climate Emergencies Resilience Lab (CERL), an initiative we created in partnership with Renaissance Philanthropy, is engineered to tackle a crucial blind spot in current climate models: cascading risks. A drought isn't just a drought. It's a ripple effect that leads to food crises, health emergencies, and economic instability.
Our goal is to build bankable companies that move beyond fragmented solutions to create systemic resilience. After months of research, the team has identified and triaged 60 opportunity areas into a first tranche of 10 high-impact ventures, non-profits, and research directions.
- Forest restoration: Using tech and novel markets to tackle catastrophic dieback.
- Disease biosecurity: Developing scalable solutions for climate-induced outbreaks.
- Urban cooling: Protecting the 1.2 billion people at risk in urban heat islands.
